Paintings
My paintings are figurative and mostly done on paper. I work in fluid washes of colour incorporating mixed media.
Many of these works are a result of my travels. I return to my studio in Suffolk with a need to express something of the essence of place. For me that essence is about people, always people.
Mixed Media
Experimentation and play: My mixed media pieces are about probing the qualities and limitations of different media, layer upon layer; the excitement and possibilities are endless. The importance is to know when to stop.
Illustrations and ScreensMy illustrations and screens are all painted to commission only. I began making painted screens from my home when the children were small, the images were playful, colourful and often took their themes from theatrical sources.

Drawing is the fundamental beginning. In the search for the essence of what I am striving to express, I work with unusual tools, materials and supports.
