During the summer of the global pandemic of 2020 I spent a lot of time in my garden. The sounds of cars, planes, machinery and even people were no longer there. I became keenly aware of nature; the different calls of birds, the sounds of leaves moving in wind, a passing frog, the colours in the flowers and the busyness of butterflies. The weather was beautiful and during this intense time I made a series of paintings exploring the simple pleasure I was feeling from the garden which was in contrast to the confusion and fear of the unknown that we were all experiencing.
